Understanding Apps and Tiles

The Eduplaces platform provides a unified space for schools to manage their students and teachers and seamlessly integrate with external ed-tech solutions. As a partner, understanding the fundamental concepts of "Apps" and "Tiles" will be essential for a smooth integration process. This documentation provides a comprehensive overview of these two terms and their significance in the Eduplaces ecosystem.

What is an App?

In the context of Eduplaces, an "App" doesn’t strictly refer to mobile software. Instead, an App refers to a distinct educational offering supplied by one of our partners. It could be your unique ed-tech tool or solution, a learning management system, a virtual classroom tool, a gamified learning platform, or any innovative solution that aids education.

A single partner can also offer multiple Apps. For example, if you have multiple distinct mobile apps or platforms for different grade levels or subjects, each one can be listed as a separate App on our platform. In contrast, if you have a single platform that can be used for multiple purposes, it should be listed as a single App.

Every App gets its spotlight in our app store. This is where schools, teachers, and students discover the myriad of tools at their disposal. For more information on the app store, check out the App Store section.

Activation & Accessibility

Apps on Eduplaces are incredibly flexible. We offer a versatile activation mechanism for Apps:

  • Individual Activation: Apps can be activated by teachers just for themselfs as a singular user.
  • Group Activation: Apps can be activated by teachers for a specific group, like a class or grade.
  • School Activation: Apps can also be activated for an entire school.

This ensures that the right tools reach the right hands, tailored to the specific needs of a school or its sub-groups. For example, a school might activate a virtual classroom tool for all its teachers, but only activate a gamified learning platform for a specific grade.

If your App requires a paid subscription, you can activate your app for an individual, a group or a whole shool via our API as part of your billing process. For more information on this, head over to our Activate Tile section.

What’s a Tile?

Once an App is activated for a user or a group, it's represented on their Eduplaces dashboard as a "Tile". Simply put, Tiles are visual bookmarks, a quick-access button if you will. Clicking on a Tile launches the respective App, ensuring a seamless transition from Eduplaces to your solution. The user will be automatically logged in to your App, so they can get started right away. We can also provide you with additional information about the user, such as their name, email, and school, so you can provide a personalized experience. Learn more about this in the Scopes section.

Tiles ensure that activated Apps are always within easy reach. For users, this means that every time they access their Eduplaces dashboard, their preferred educational tools are immediately available.

Why is this Integration Vital?

Integrating your ed-tech solutions with Eduplaces provides a centralized and unified platform for schools. It simplifies their experience, reduces the clutter of managing students in multiple tools, and ensures that quality education is just a click away.

Moreover, by listing your App on Eduplaces, you’re showcasing your solution to a wide audience who are actively seeking new ways to enhance the educational journey.
